CHRISTMAS GLC MEGA RIDE ON SUN 21ST DEC 08

Can we make it the biggest one yet?

The Green Lane Crew's traditional Christmas rideout will soon be upon us again, and this year, we want the biggest turnout ever at a GLC event! Absolutely everyone is welcome to join in, ability is simply not an issue. All you need is a road legal dirtbike and a sense of fun.

Last year, we managed thirty six bikes and 37 riders (yep, one was riding pillion!), so, our target for this year is 38 riders, but we would really love to see 50+ bikes turn up for a few ours riding in the mud. It was such an awesome sight seeing 36 dirtbikes winding up down the lanes, and oh, the noise!!! Simply brilliant. The forum has been growing slowly throughout the year and I hope that that turns in to more riders coming out to play. At last count it was 377 members, so we only need 10% of those to come along and we have beaten the record.

Where and when?

The traditional starting point for this one is The Red Lion in Great Offley, which most of you have visited at one time or another, but for those who have not, or simply can't remember, click here. We will meet at 10am so that it gives those coming from a little further afield the chance to come along. We usually have a chat and a quick beverage and then hit the lanes by around 11am.

What will it involve?

We don't ride for miles and miles and miles simply because this ride is all about sociability. As there, hopefully, will be a massive turnout, the time it takes to clear each lane, and keep the group together means that this is no enduro race! It is such a laugh that NO GLC member should miss out - this is the one ride of the year that is all about laughter at each others expense!

There will undoubtedy be the odd 'fuel stop' at a local hostelry around lunch time and the ride will finish back at the Red Lion just before dark. You don't have to do the full day if you don't want to, you can split off at any time you want, so there are no excuses that you have to go to B&Q in the afternoon so can't take part!

Don't have a bike?

Paulus the Woodgnome may be able to help if your bike is broken or you have sold it but would still like to come along for this mental rideout! Just send him a personal message on the forum and he will try and sort something for you iof the bikes are available.
